Do you know the meaning of SAD? Have you ever noticed in which specific time it occurs? If you have never noticed that, then let us tell you what SAD is all about. SAD is a term, whose full form is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which means one, tending to feel lone and unhappy during a specific time. Now you would say is this possible? The answer is yes! According to a survey conducted by WHO (World Health Organisation), mentioned that people tend to stay more unhappy during winter season. As it is the time where they cannot roam to much because of cold weather outside, and they are forced to remain inside of their home and hence, feel a sense of boredom and loneliness with the same kind of environment.

Especially, the months of November to February, when climate changes its condition, this change emphasis more on boredom, which is the reason why Seasonal Affective Disorder arises. The U.S. doctor, Norman E. Rosenthal in 1984, determined the term SAD during his research on depression. In which he was focusing upon the factors that raises Depression. He came to know that body is consisting of various moods’, which even changes its phases according to climate, condition, and atmosphere. His research opened those entire unknown gateway that affects depressive illness like isolation, excessive boredom, and extreme loneliness.

Even the recent survey, collected a huge data based upon the reactions of the 650,000 people of United States, where they have agreed of having some kind of winter illness that associate them with “SAD”. Few U.S. scientists who are working hard to fight against the situation of SAD, have told that for a normal well being, 2,500lux is necessary to eradicate the symptoms of SAD. Which can be easily found in summers when the intensity reach up to 100,000lux?

Therefore, to treat the people who are affected by SAD, ‘light therapy’ is the solution, in which one need to sit back in minimum 2,500lux of light intensity or maximum 9,000lux under specialist vision, to power up all those energies lost somewhere in winters. However, half an hour is more than enough to rectify the problem of SAD under the supervision of light therapists, along with some anti-depressant drugs and psychotherapy treatments are also served to deeply correct the illness of SAD.

In addition, doctors have suggested that in the pre- stage of SAD enhancing your mood while watching movies that feature warm, sunny, summery climates even works like a light therapy. Do those things that keep you happy and alive during winters to keep yourself away from being SAD.
